Classical

West Dallas Community School’s Classical educational philosophy draws on the rich heritage of Western civilization and culture. Our integrated approach features a core curriculum including mathematics and science, language arts and history, supplemented by additional instruction in music, art, nature studies, physical education, Latin, and Spanish.

 

Private

West Dallas Community School functions as a nurturing community of fellow learners in which students are respected as unique individuals created in the image of God, each having special abilities and needs. We are an individual entity, and do not receive funding from the state. Students are required to take an entrance exam prior to enrollment. Our mission is only made possible by the generosity of foundations & supporters.

 

Christian

We are committed to teaching our students how to think not only critically, but biblically as well. WDCS places emphasis upon developing each child’s character and the formation of good habits that will be beneficial throughout life. Music

Students at WDCS learn to sing, play instruments, move to music, improvise, and compose. They experience music from a variety of time periods and cultures, learning that all people are made in the image of God and can glorify Him through music. 

Nature Studies

Through weekly nature walks, working in the school garden, and observing different plants and animals, students practice the habits of attentiveness and wonder, inspiring them to experience nature as a delight and joy that they cultivate their entire lives.

 

Art

As God’s image-bearers, we have the ability to produce and appreciate beauty. Students study classic artistic masterpieces as they learn how to express themselves creatively and reflect the beauty of their Maker.

Latin and Spanish

Students in Class 6 study the basics of Latin as a foundation for language learning and the western classical tradition. In Classes 7 and 8, students move on to studying Spanish to gain proficiency in the most prevalent second language in our area.
