West Dallas Community School was founded in 1995 to serve the families of West Dallas, an area that for decades had been an underserved and forgotten part of the city. WDCS offers a college preparatory Christian education for children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Students are taught a Biblical world view integrating all areas of learning. Our curriculum has a rigorous math and science program, is rich in humanities and the arts, and delights in the discipline of forming good habits.
The mission of West Dallas Community School is to provide students with a challenging educational experience designed to help them know, love, and practice that which is true, good, and excellent and to prepare them to live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man.
West Dallas was once synonymous with hopelessness. From juke joints and Bonnie & Clyde to segregated public housing, a crime rate among the highest in the nation, and a smelting plant contaminating the soil with lead and arsenic, West Dallas was spiritually and physically a toxic environment.
By God’s grace things have improved dramatically – thanks to the efforts of many faith-based ministries and the generosity of countless individuals and
organizations. West Dallas Community School is proud to be a part of that story. But there is still work to be done.
In a very simple sense you can say that West Dallas Community School is a ministry of justice – refusing to accept the narrative that a child’s zip code
determines their future. Together, we are seeking to create the conditions where people created in the image of God can experience full human flourishing.
